Canada's corporate registers, measured.

Independent empirical research on corporate compliance in Canada — computed from the registers' own published data, with the method published in full so you can check the work. New reports reach this list first.

A sample of what has been measured

27.98%
of active federal corporations are in default of at least one measured annual obligation
9.5%
show no individual with significant control listed on the federal register
6,825
corporations dissolved federally while still registered and filing in Quebec
74 days
median time struck off and revived — inside a single bank statement cycle

Why this list is worth your inbox

Most commentary on corporate compliance is opinion about the law. This is measurement of the record — the whole register, counted.

MEASURED

Every figure is computed, not estimated. From Corporations Canada's and Quebec's own bulk open data, and from preregistered sampling of the public record where bulk data does not reach.

FIRST

Reports reach this list before they go anywhere else — with the findings, the figures and the limitations, ahead of any commentary written about them.

OPEN

Full method, confidence grading and limitations in every report. Including what the research deliberately does not claim. If a finding is an inference, it says so.

What the research asks

Each report takes one question about the corporate record and answers it with counted evidence — not opinion about the law, but measurement of the register itself.

What does “Active” actually mean?
We tested every active federal corporation against its own filing record.
What does a clean registry check prove in KYC/KYB?
The question every corporate onboarding and refresh cycle rests on.
How long does a corporation live?
Measured from the register's own dates — federally and in Quebec.
Can two registers disagree about the same company?
They do. We counted how often, in both directions.
Who verified the beneficial owner?
We read the record corporation by corporation, under a frozen protocol.
What does a first filing say about a fifth year?
Characteristics declared on day one, tested against outcomes years later.
